Marguerite F. “Peg” (McHugh) Connolly, 66, of Newton Highlands, who had worked at Boston College in a variety of departments, died Tues May 20 at her home.Born in Stoneham, she had lived in Newton for many years. She had worked for the Newton Police Dept as a Traffic Supervisor and had also worked at Newton Wellesley Hospital. A graduate of Boston College Class of 2003, she was a tireless supporter of her family and community and volunteered at the Newton Recreation Dept. In recent years she had traveled the world extensively. Sports also played a prominent role in Peg’s life. For 35 years she participated in the Newton Parks and Recreation leagues softball, flag football and volleyball, and was a senior Olympian in Volleyball. She served as women’s sports coordinator in the Boston College Athletic Dept. under the late William Flynn, and was also a coach of the women’s golf team. Peg was a dynamic presence in the lives of those she came into contact with, she was much loved and will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband Gerald F. “Jerry” Connolly, her children Joseph P. of Duluth GA, Gerald F. of Needham, Paul R. of Boston, Marguerite F. of Somerville, U.S. Army Capt. David S. of Boston, Nancy E. Sperry of Gloucester, and Gregory A. of Brighton; her brothers and sisters Patrick McHugh of Leominster, William McHugh of Bethesda MD, John McHugh of Auburndale, Ann M. Doherty of Sandwich, Emmanuel Joseph McHugh of Manchester NH, Rosemary McHugh of Ft. Lauderdale FL, David and Daniel McHugh both of Scituate, Francis McHugh of Belmont, Madonna Basilici of Ft. Lauderdale FL, and Kevin McHugh of Boylston. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.A funeral mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church Newton Centre on Fri. May 23 at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
