Harry A. Smith, Jr., 83, of Greenville, formerly of Dexterdale Road in Providence, died Wednesday at Fatima Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Fair) Smith for the past 53 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Harry A. and Margaret (Taylor) Smith he lived in Providence all his life before moving to Greenville in October.
Mr. Smith was an Army veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Cheshire Academy and Roger Williams College. Mr. Smith was a draftsman until retirement for the former Cable Electric Co. and was previously employed by Amica Insurance and Gilbane Construction Co. He also enjoyed gardening.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children Harry A. Smith, III of New London, Edward A., Michael A. Smith and daughter in law Jo-Ann, all of Providence, his grandchildren, Andrew, Mathew and Michael, and a great granddaughter, McKenzie. He was the grandfather of the late Caitlin Smith and David Gray.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 24 at 11:30 am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation Saturday from 10:30am to 11:30 am.
