Robert D. Halen, 69, of Londonderry, NH, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH. Mr. Halen was born in Manchester on December 10, 1939, son of the late Howard M. and Nora (Murphy) Halen. He was a resident of Londonderry for the past two years, formerly living in Manchester. Mr. Halen grew up in Pembroke, NH and graduated from Pembroke Academy, class of 1958. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard of NH and the Reserve of the United States Air Force. Mr. Halen worked as a meat buyer for Associated Grocers of New England for 23 years, retiring in 2005. He was also a tax preparer for many years. He was an avid sports enthusiast, baseball fan and walker. Mr. Halen enjoyed history and reading as well as his vacations and being with his family. He was a communicant of St. Jude Parish where he also served as an usher.
He is survived by a son, Darrell J. Halen of Londonderry, two daughters, Jane E. Arguilla and her husband Erwin of Charleston Air Force Base, SC, Susan M. Walsh and her husband James of Pine Brook, NJ, two grandchildren, Jake A. Arguilla of Charleston Air Force Base, Sean J. Walsh of Pine Brook, two sisters, Noreen Bean of Allenstown, NH, Mary Burbank of Pembroke, a sister in law, Noella Halen of Allenstown, his former wife, Betty Arnold of Leesburg, FL and also by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Howard J. Halen.
Visiting hours were held 2-4 and 6-8pm Tuesday, January 27, 2009 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian burial were celebrated Wednesday at 10:00am in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Derry, NH.
