Obituary

Josephine M. (Cardoza) Delgado, 80, of Mattapoisett died May 18, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.

She was the wife of the late William A. Delgado, and daughter of the late Manuel and Antonia (Monteiro) Cardoza.

Mrs. Delgado was born in Bourne and had lived in Mattapoisett for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett.

Mrs. Delgado was formerly employed at the former St. Luke's Hospital in Middleboro as director of housekeeping for 18 years until her retirement. Prior to that, she had been a housekeeper for private residences.

Survivors include 2 sons, W. Anthony Delgado, Jr. of Mattapoisett and David Cardoza of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Joanne Araujo of Marietta, GA, and Kathleen Cardoza of Fall River; 8 brothers, Manuel Cardoza, Jr., of Bourne, John Cardoza of Buzzards Bay, Paul Cardoza and Raymond Cardoza, both of New Bedford, Anthony Cardoza of Wareham, Charlie Cardoza of Onset, George Cardoza of California and Joseph Cardoza of Massachusetts; 2 sisters, Marjorie Lomba of Marion, and Ruth Harness of Florida; 4 grandchildren, Jamie Araujo, Brandon Delgado, Kelly Araujo and Ryan Delgado; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and several godchildren.

She was the sister of the late Peter Cardoza, Evelyn Roderick and Mae Cardoza.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Friday, May 23rd at 10 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church, Mattapoisett at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Thursday, May 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

Interment St. Anthony's Cemetery.
