Worcester—Randolph “R.G.” G. Wilson, 75, formerly of Prudential Rd., died Monday, May 19, at The Hermitage.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Emilene (Moody) Wilson of Worcester; a son, Kenneth M. Wilson of Princeton; a daughter, Cynthia M. Wilson-Grillo of Sturbridge; four grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Wilson was born in Worcester, son of Paul H. and Lillian M. (Gould) Wilson. He graduated from North High School.
At the age of 12, Randy purchased a model airplane business from Richard Whitcomb, who later became involved with NASA, and operated the business out of his basement. He later worked at the family business, Warren Leather Goods of Worcester and owned and operated Randy’s Cycle Shop in Boylston for over 30 years until his retirement. He was an avid motorcyclist and belonged to many motorcycle clubs. For more than 25 years, Mr. Wilson wrote a column entitled “25 Years’ Ago,” later called “Silver Wheels,” for the Motorcyclist Post. Mr. Wilson was a licensed pilot and used to fly out of Grafton and Bolton Airports. He also enjoyed building and operating model airplanes and belonged to many model airplane clubs. He was a member of Burncoat Baptist Church in Worcester.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 23, at Burncoat Baptist Church, 475 Burncoat Street. Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 22, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel (NordgrenMemorialChapel.com), 300 Lincoln Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
