Walter H. Dietz III, 61, of Franklin, died, Monday, January 19, 2009 surrounded by his family in his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Therese (Precious) Dietz for 37 years.
Born in Newton on January 16, 1948, he was a son of the late Walter H. and Elizabeth (Fales) Dietz.
A resident of Franklin for the past 32 years, Mr. Dietz was a graduate of Newton North High School and Springfield College in 1970. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Dietz was an operations manager at Rexell/CLS in Milford for 10 years.
When his children were young, he was very active in the various Franklin youth sports programs. He was an avid fan of his Boston sports teams.
Besides his wife, he is survived by; three children, John Dietz and his wife, Jennifer of Leominster, Robin Blake and her husband, David of Ashland and Andrew Dietz and his wife, Sarah of Branford, CT and two sisters, Virginia Eshbaugh of Centerville and Judith Win of Great Barrington.
He was the beloved Papa of Kaylee Blake and Matthew and Brian Dietz.
He is also survived by his cousin, Janet B. Miller of Colrain, his uncle, John M. Dietz of Truro and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday, January 24 at 11 a.m. in the Franklin Federated Church; 171 Main St. in Franklin. Burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
