Worcester – Gerard L. Lambert, 81, of Worcester died on Tuesday, January 20th in the Hermitage Nursing Home after an illness.
His wife of 44 years, Adeline (Cerce) Lambert died in 2003. Mr. Lambert is survived by a son Mark J. Lambert of Worcester, and a daughter Laurie A. Soponski and her husband, Brian of Auburn; four grandchildren; one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Gerard was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph and Rose (Paquette) Lambert and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He is predeceased by two sisters Lillian Marchese and Theresa Welch.
Mr. Lambert worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Church, the Main South American Legion Post # 341 and the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council # 88.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hermitage Nursing Home and Asera Care Hospice Services for the kind and dedicated care that was given to their father Gerard.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 24th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street with a Mass at 10 AM in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be on Friday January 23rd from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 311 Arsenal Street Watertown, MA 02472.
