Obituary

Doris E. McNeil (Beever), a life long resident of Plymouth passed away on January 18th at the age of 100 at the Newfield House Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late H. Gordon McNeil. Mrs. McNeil was born in Plymouth on July 29, 1908, daughter of the late Ada Emily (Park) Beever and John Allen Beever. Mrs. McNeil was a 1925 graduate of Plymouth High and a 1927 graduate of Chandler Secretarial School with honors. She was secretary to the employment manager of the Plymouth Cordage Company for 7 years and was also employed by Edes Mfg. Co. Revere Copper and Brass for 14 years. She is survived by her son Glenn H. McNeil of Plymouth, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mother of the late Naomi Waddel and Dexter G. McNeil, sister of the late William, Arthur and Granville Beever. She was a very active life member of the First Parish Church, Women’s Alliance, Antiquarian Society, Wildlands Trust leaving them the 53 ½ acre Herbert Bartlett Land Trust on Drew Road in Plymouth, the Fragment Society, and the Pinehurst Friendship Club. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, game playing, going to concerts, regular walking and skating on South Pond. Funeral arrangements made by the Richard Davis Funeral Homes of Plymouth and Manomet. A brief graveside service will be conducted by the First Parish Church at a convenient date for the family and friends in the future. In lieu of flowers, any contributions should be made to the Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
