Obituary

Alfred E. Rioux, 84, of Acushnet died Sunday January 18, 2009 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Madeleine M. (Zussy) Rioux.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Alfred and Blanche (Jobin) Rioux, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Marc Rioux and his wife Claire of Bedford, NH, Paul Rioux and his wife Janet of New Bedford, and Michele Meunier and her husband Robert of Acushnet; a sister, Annette Bourbeau of Fairhaven; nine grandchildren, Chad Rioux and his wife Jenn, Monique Rice and her husband Jon, Justin Rioux, Aimee Rioux, Timothy Rioux, Kimberly Rioux, Bryanne Meunier, Jenna Meunier, and Jillian Meunier; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Alice Pfeiffer and Henry "Skip" Rioux.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Joseph - St. Therese Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
