Harvey S. Hatten, 74, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, January 18, 2009, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 4 P.M., Wednesday, January 21, at New Bethel Cemetery in Ben Hill County with Sister Teresa McDuffie officiating.
Mr. Hatten was born October 14, 1934, in Ben Hill County to the late T.P. “Ted” Hatten and the late Ruby Lee Smith Prescott. He moved back to the community in 1976 from Orlando, Florida where he lived for many years. Mr. Hatten retired carpenter, plumber and landscaper. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War era. Mr. Hatten was a member of the Holiness Baptist faith.
Mr. Hatten is survived by his stepmother, Hulley Hatten of Fitzgerald; brother, Richard “Pete” Hatten of Fitzgerald; sister, Janet Padgett of Fitzgerald; cousin and caregiver, Jean West of Fitzgerald, as well as, several other cousins, nieces and nephews.
