Connie Goddard, 67, of Enigma died Monday, January 19, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Garvey Nichols, Sr. and Rev. Garvey Nichols, Jr. will officiate with burial to follow in Enigma Cemetery. Terry Willis, David Parkerson, Henry Parkerson Jr., Ronald Lee Barnes Jr., Rick Robinson and Terry Willis, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Goddard was born on May 20, 1941 in Thomaston (Upson County) and was the daughters of J. D. Gray, Sr. and Lillian Strickland Gray, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Taylor. She was a certified USDA inspector and of the Pentecostal faith.
Ms. Goddard is survived by her best friend and fiance', Lamar Hopkins of Enigma; three sons, Ricky Burkett of Douglas, Wayne Burkett of Douglas and Keith Keen of Tifton; two daughters, Donna Oliver of Florida and Connie Smith of Douglas; three brothers, Herbert Gray of Valdosta, J. D. Gray, Jr. of Tifton and Woodrow Gray of Douglas; five sisters, Loretta Burkett of Douglas, Frances Giddens of Enigma, Brenda Parkerson of Enigma, Patty Wirebaugh of Enigma and Susan Barnes of Tifton; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
