Obituary

Hugh "Red" Brady, a 65 year resident of Charlestown, died on Friday January 16, 2009 at his home in Charlestown following an extended illness. He was 85 years old.

Red was born in White Springs, Florida on December 24, 1923 and grew up there where he attended schools there. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and served his country during World War 2. He was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked for over 10 years as a Repair Manager for General Electric at thier Brighton plant. Red ran his own business for over 60 years, known as Brady's Appliance Repair Service which was located in Charlestown.

Red is the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Downey) Brady. He is the devoted father of Joanne Tumosa and her husband Ed of Maine, Janice Daley and her husband Bill of Charlestown, Robert Brady and his wife Sharon of Charlestown, Betty Kelly and her husband Johnny of Charlestown and the late Jeanne Hamilton and her surviving husband Bill of Walpole. He is the loving grandfather of 12 great-grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Alice Cooper of Florida.

Red's Funeral will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2009 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday January 20, 2009 from 3 to 7 p.m. Cremation will take place following his funeral mass.
