Obituary

M. Edna Lamontagne, 60, of Salem died Saturday May 17, 2003 in the Northeast Rehab Hospital, Salem. Edna was born in Lawrence, Ma, on January 21, 1943 the daughter of Howard Matchett and the late Rita (Gendron) Matchett. She had resided in Salem for many years, formerly living in Windham and Derry. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lawrence Class of 1960. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for Atlantic Food Mart in Reading, Ma. She served as past treasurer for the Friendship Center in Derry and past auditor and treasurer for the Interstate Repeater Society. She served as past selectman in Windham during the mid 1980’s and was a former Hillsborough County Deputy Sheriff. Edna was a best friend to many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Carl Lamontagne of Londonderry, her daughter, Cari Lamontagne of Derry, three grandchildren, her father of Windham and her sister, Priscilla Rivera of South Carolina.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday May 21st at 10:00am in St. Matthew’s Church, Searles Rd., Windham. Cremation will follow. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry.
