William L. Roberts, age 80, a life long resident of Fall River. Passed away Jan. 17, 2009. He was the loving husband of Margaret (De Costa) Roberts for 59 years. He was the son of the late Samuel D. & the late Bertha (La Forest) Roberts. Prior to retiring, William worked as a Fabricator for Sarama Lighting Corp. of Fall River for over 50 years. After retiring, he worked as a Crossing Guard on Eastern Ave. near Notre Dame Church. He was a very active member of Espirito Santo Church, where he also served as a Collector for mass. He was also a past member of the Fall River Rod & Gun Club.
Besides his loving wife of Fall River, he is survived by his extended family, sister in law Lorraine & the late Arthur Correia Sr. and their children: Arthur Jr. & wife Dorothea, Kenneth & wife Sue, David & wife Donna, Michael & wife Connie, Steven & wife Ann Marie, and Lori Monast & husband Ronald. 2 sisters: Rita Renaud of Tiverton & Beatrice De Marco of Swansea. Many other nieces, nephews, & great nieces & nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph, Wilfred, Donat Roberts, & Laura De Marco.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Thursday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. at 10:30 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 P.M.
