Charles C. Giacchino, age 82, of Burlington formerly of Woburn, passed away January 15th at his home following a lengthy illness. Born in Floriara, Malta he was the son of the late Francesca (Ferla) and Eugene Giacchino.
Mr. Giacchino was a retired carpenter and was a member for over fifty years of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Union of America. He was United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He loved working with his hands and building things. Mostly devoted to his family he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and staying active throughout his retirement.
Mr. Giacchino is survived by his daughters, Lauren Shaughnessy of Billerica, Mary Ellen Fantasia and her husband Mike of Burlington, and son, Charles Giacchino Jr. of Florida. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Patrick and Matthew Shaughnessy, Michael and Marissa Fantasia and is further survived by two great grandchildren, Patrick III and Courtney.
In addition to his late parents, Mr. Giacchino is predeceased by his sister, the late Maria Romano and three brothers, the late Edward, Salvatore and Joseph Giacchino.
His funeral will be conducted from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Tuesday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
