John DaRosa, 73, of Wareham, formerly of New Bedford, died Friday May 16, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford after a brief illness. He was the husband of Ilidia (Fernandes) DaRosa).
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of the late Eugene and Benvinda (Massini) DaRosa, he had lived in New Bedford for most of his life. He had lived in Clearwater, Florida, for 6 years before moving to Wareham in 2002.
He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church in New Bedford.
Mr. DaRosa was formerly employed by the Exxon Corporation for 20 years, and later worked at Morse Cutting Tools and J.C. Rhodes before his retirement in 1993.
Mr. DaRosa served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Exxon/Mobil Annuitants Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John Steven DaRosa of New Bedford; 4 daughters, Diana DeAndrade of New Bedford, Kathleen Rumsey of Georgia, Donna Medeiros of Rochester, and Lisa White of Hyde Park; a brother, Boaventura DaRosa of New Bedford; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Auxilia and Jerome DaSilva of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren; a niece and 2 nephews.He was the brother of the late Joseph DaRosa.
