Lucy Green Chance, 86, of Tifton died Friday, January 16, 2009, at Cypress Pond Assisted Living. There will be a memorial celebration of her wonderful life at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2009, at the Bluepoint Restaurant in Atlanta.
Ms. Chance was born on March 1, 1922, in Dallas, Texas and was the daughter of Jack and Ida Green. She became a lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol and, later, flew her own plane across the country, setting up air makers on barns and roofs. She was also part of the design team for the Blue Angels, an accomplished artist and a very successful businesswoman. She lived most of her life in Atlanta and, later, at Lake Burton in North Georgia and in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Ms. Chance is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Pat Lesher of Atlanta; a grandson, Charlie, of Atlanta; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Mickey Watson of Lake Oconee and Tifton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Nolle of Atlanta and Patti and Charlie Cooper of Greenville, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
