Methuen, MA – James J. “Jim” Boie 81, died January 14, 2009 at the Nevins Nursing and Health Care Centre.
He was born in Lawrence the son of Oscar and Hilda (James) Boie. Mr. Boie was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in New York and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
Mr. Boie received a World War II victory medal after serving his country in the U.S. Army serving as Corporal before being honorably discharged.
He had a career as a silversmith for many years. In addition, he spent 25 years employed with the Raytheon Co. of Burlington as a Technical Artist before retiring in 1991.
He had a passion for the arts which he expressed through painting, pastels and portraits. He was member of the Methuen, Andover, and Haverhill Art Guilds. He was also a longtime member of the Vagabond Golf League at Hickory Hill and Scottish Highlands.
A longtime resident of Lawrence and Methuen survivors include his wife of 56 years Theresa O. (Dube) Boie, children Robin T. and her husband Peter Grasso of Lawrence, sons Gregg J. and his wife Claire of Londonderry, NH, Garry S. and his wife Nashwa Boie of Haverhill, MA, and Glenn A. and his wife Elaine Boie of Goffstown, NH, 11 grandchildren, 4 greatgrandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock in Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover.
