Robert A. Stronach, age 71, of Woburn formerly of Charlestown, passed away January 14th at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center of Burlington following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy J. (Finnegan). Born in Chicago, IL he was the son of the late Helen May (Gibson) and Malcolm R. Stronach.
Mr. Stronach was raised and educated in Charlestown and was a graduate of Charlestown High School where he was a member of the track team and excelled at long distance running. Later in life he participated in and completed the Boston Marathon. Mr. Stronach was retired from the Boston Edison Company where he worked for over thirty years. He also worked and volunteered his time at the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club for a number of years. Mr. Stronach was a huge Boston sports fan and religiously listened to sports radio and also loved watching the sporting news on television.
Mr. Stronach is survived by his devoted daughter, Patricia Jurkevich and her husband Alex of Woburn. He was the loving and proud grandfather of Paige Jurkevich of Woburn. He is also survived by his loving companion Margaret Sepos and her family of Shrewsbury and is further survived by his brother, James Stronach and his wife Audrey of Tewksbury and several loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Saturday, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 5 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn, Inc., Charles Gardner Lane, Woburn, MA 01801-2383.
