Mary C. Holthaus a retired executive Secretary at the former Arthur D. Little Company, passed away at the Pope Nursing Home on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the age of 87. Miss. Holthaus was born in Dorchester where she lived for 50 years before moving to Weymouth. She graduated from St. Margaret’s High School and Boston University. Mary enjoyed traveling, the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Braves, the theater, the opera and gardening. Helping others also made her very happy. Miss. Holthaus was the daughter of the late Aloysius and Catherine (McLaughlin) Holthaus and was raised by her uncle and aunts, Patrick J., Margaret F. and Mary V. McLaughlin after the death of her parents. She is survived by her sister Barbara P. Neely of S. Weymouth, her nephews, James J. Holthaus Jr. of Rockland, Francis X. Neely Jr. of Weymouth, Brian J. Neely and his wife Pamela of Abington, her Niece Kathleen M. Geswell and her grand nephew Edward Geswell IV of Hanover. Mary was predeceased by her brother James J. Holthaus and his wife Alice of Rockland. Visiting hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Saturday, January 17 from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 261 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 10 A.M.
