New Bedford – Alcina (Ferreira) Camara, aged 87 years, died, Tuseday, January 14, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Ernesto DosSantos Camara. Mrs. Camara was the mother of Dionisio Camara of Acushnet, MA., Eduarda Nunes-Kitchner of Ontario, Canada, Maria Alcina Silva of Fl., Maria De Deus Camara of New Bedford, MA. Canada, Antonio Ferreira of Povacao, St. Michael, Maria Cardoso of New Bedford, she was the sister of Antonio Ferreira of São Miguel Açores, Maria Cardoso of New Bedford,the late Manuel Ferreira and Jose Ferreira. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Camara was the daughter of the late Maria Ines (Araujo) and Manuel Ferreira Jr. She was born in Povacao, Portugal and lived in this area since 1978
Mrs. Camaras’ Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Saturday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church a 9 A.M. Burial is at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
