GLOUCESTER: John L. Dane, Jr., 67, of Crafts Road, Rust Island, formerly of Boston, died unexpectedly at the Addison Gilbert Hospital on Monday, January 5, 2009. He was the husband of Monika (Eisele) Dane.
Born in Boston on December 3, 1941, he was the son of the late John L. and Esther (Wise) Dane, a descendant from John Wise of the John Wise Congregational Church in Essex. He had resided in Gloucester since 1995.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Germany from 1959 to 1962. He returned to Germany in 1964 and resided there until 1969.
John was a commercial artist; however his last decade was spent enjoying stone work. He was also known to be talented storyteller and enjoyed sharing his adventures with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is survived by the Eisele families in Germany as well as many friends, neighbors and acquaintances.
In keeping with his wishes, services will be held privately in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
