John McLaughlin died January 10th, 2009 at the age of 58 after losing his battle with cancer.
John was a former resident of Cambridge where he lived for over 50 years before recently moving to Milo, ME. A devoted and loving husband to Deborah (Sibert)McLaughlin. Loving father to Wendy McLaughlin of Cambridge, and Sherry Collazo and her husband Luis, of West Roxbury. Brother to Robert McLaughlin of Springfield, Kathy Schofield of Cambridge and the late Patricia Korocinski of Cambridge . In addition to being the adored grandfather of Kylie and Leah Collazo, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
John served his country in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of The Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 299 in Cambridge.
John was a man of his word all the way to the end. He was determined to make it for both his daughter’s birthdays and his 25th wedding anniversary and did just that. John took his last breath moments after hearing the family sing happy 30th birthday to his youngest daughter Wendy. Our family is so proud of him and the precious moments he gave us.
John will be remembered for many things including; his loyalty, his pride, his great sense of humor, outlandish sayings, amazing craftsmanship, and his endless knowledge of facts.
A private service will be held by his family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to Odyssey VistaCare Hospice Foundation.
