Obituary

Mr. Joseph J. Meuse, age 87 of Woburn, died January 13th at the Tufts Medical Center following a short illness. He was the husband of Ada L (Meehan) with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Melrose he was the son of the late Ellen (Stanley) and Joseph R. Meuse.

Mr. Meuse was a Woburn resident for most of his life. He was a retired district manager with the Untied States Postal Service where he worked for 37 years starting as a clerk. He was an active member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors and also served as the association's Executive Vice President. Mr. Meuse was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was part of the Army's first division at the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of four battle stars. Mr. Meuse was a member of the Woburn American Legion Post 101 and the Irish American Club of Woburn. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was an avid sports fan and was passionate about the "Fighting Irish" Football Team of Notre Dame.

In addition to his late parents, Mr. Meuse is predeceased by his daughter, the late Regina Meuse. He is also predeceased by his sisters, the late Lil Meehan and Martha Cassaneri, and his brother, the late Paul Meuse. He is survived by his children, Mary Walby and her husband Chuck of Connecticut, Joseph Meuse Jr. and his wife Kim of Maine, Karen Stickney and her husband Steve of Andover, John Meuse and his wife Kathy of Billerica, Jerry Meuse and his wife Judy of Sagamore Beach. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Greg and Chris Walby, Michael, Daniel, Katie, Elena and Gina Meuse, Matthew and Meghan Stickney. He is further survived by two sisters, Theresa Coy of Tewksbury and Helen O'Rourke of Woburn.

His funeral will be conducted from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Saturday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin -Dello Russo Funeral Home will be Friday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
