Obituary

PEABODY - Mary A. (Watroba) Rakoc, 89, of Peabody, wife of the late Edmund F. Rakoc, died Sunday afternoon at her residence.

Born and raised in Ipswich, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Starsiak) Watroba. She was a resident of Salem before moving to Peabody 55 years ago.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs Rakoc was a fancy stitcher in the shoe industry and was employed by Martin & Tickles in Ipswich, and later by Benson Shoe in Lynn.

She was a parishioner of the St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Salem and was previously a parishioner of the former St. Joseph Polish Church in Peabody. Mary ‘s interests included embroidery and gardening.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jack Waldroup of Peabody, two grandchildren, Adam Waldroup and Lynne Waldroup, both of Peabody, one sister and brother-in-law, Sophie and Louis Krupanski of Ipswich and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edward Watroba and Rose Barbati.

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 11 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. A visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 am, prior to the service. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
