Henriette Louise (Kothe) McKittrick, 88, of Derry, NH died Sunday January 11, 2009 at her home. Henni was born to John Henry and Alina (Touminin) Kothe in New York City. She graduated Valedictorian of her senior high school class and then went to Wheaton College in Illinois. She married Robert McKittrick in 1946 and he was ordained in 1953. They served churches in 9 states during the 50 years Pastor Bob was in ministry.
Henni was often the church secretary for her husband through the years, and was always busy teaching VBS, Pioneer Boys and Girls Clubs and many Sunday school classes. She was active in Christian Women’s Club for almost 45 years and served in various roles in the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (4 C's) that her husband's churches were a part of. She was recently active in the Ladies Benevolent Society at Central Congregational Church.
Her family was her greatest joy and she and Pastor Bob had 7 children, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was known for her warm hospitality and giving spirit. Henni was loved by all who knew her and was a blessing to so many - always encouraging and loving.
She is survived by her children, Bancroft McKittrick of Derry, John McKittrick of 29 Palms, CA, Douglas McKittrick of Acworth, GA, Barbara McKittrick of Derry, Robin Vrieland of Lynnwood, WA, and Laurene Haavisto of Londonderry. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob, and daughter, Cherlyn.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday January 14, 2009 from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Following cremation, a memorial service was held on Thursday January 15th at 7:00pm in Central Congregational Church, 14 Crescent St., Derry. Because her passion was missions, in lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations be sent to the Missions Committee at Central Congregational Church.
