Lillian Louise (Bradshaw) Gatchek, age 88, of West Mystic, passed away peacefully on Saturday.
A lifelong resident of Mystic, Lillian was born at Willow Pt., West Mystic on June 12, 1920 the daughter of Edward T. and Louise (Foster) Bradshaw. She was a 1938 graduate of Fitch High School.
Prior to her retirement in 1982, she was employed as a Secretary in the Groton Public School system for over 20 years.
Lillian was a lifetime member of the Union Baptist Church and was a member of the Mystic Rebekah Lodge #56.
She was married to John J. Gatchek in Mystic on September 26, 1942. He died in 1998.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Susan B. Montgomery of Pawcatuck; a brother, Edward K. Bradshaw of West Mystic; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Gatchek of FL, Erin Montgomery and husband Shawn Hooper of Orland, ME, and Ellen Montgomery of Burlington, VT; and two great-grandsons, Christopher Gatchek Jr. of FL and Myles Montgomery of ME. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen D. Gatchek and her siblings, Barbara Cropper, Earl Bradshaw, and Elvira Thibeault.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday from 10:30-11:30am, followed by a Funeral Service at 12noon.
** DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, Lillian's service will be conducted at the funeral home, NOT at the church. **
Because of cemetery conditions, her burial at Elm Grove Cemetery will be limited to the immediate family.
