ROCHDALE-Michael J. Crowley, 74, of 1074 Stafford Street died Tuesday, May 13th in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness. He leaves his wife, Freida E. (Brigham) Crowley; a son, David W. Butt of Rochdale; a daughter, Janet E. Hoyle of Rochdale; a sister, Julia A. Sweet of Punta Gorda, FL; a grandson; 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A sister, Elizabeth M. Kender predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Michael and Catherine T. (Grady) Crowley. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School and Worcester State College. He was a Navy veteran of WW II. Mr. Crowley worked as a quality control technician at University of Massachusetts Medical Center for many years retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Palm Bay, FL and the Cursillo Movement where he served as secretariat and was in its leaders school. He was a master catechist and served as a Eucharistic minister in Massachusetts and Florida.
The funeral will be Friday, May 16th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 15th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
