Obituary

Robert E. Hickey, of New Boston, formerly of Manchester, died January 7, 2009 at the Concord Hospice House after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester, the son of John E. and Jennie (McNeil) Hickey. He was educated in the local school system.
During WWII, he served in the US Army. He was honorably discharged in 1955 with the rank of SGT (T).
Prior to becoming disabled, he had been employed in the maintenance department at the VA Medical Center in Manchester for many years.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans #1. Robert loved to cook, garden, read, and be with family and friends.
He was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Members of his family include three daughters, Angela Lariviere of Deering, Mrs. Philip (Jill) Lorenz of New Boston, and Mrs. Kevin (Valerie) Levasseur of Bradford, NH; three sisters, Alice Kelly of Manchester, Patricia Cormier of Manchester, and Margaret Fogolman; three brothers, Frank Hickey of North Carolina, Joseph Hickey of Manchester, and Charlie Hickey of Manchester; many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is also survived by his former wife Ellen Emmerson of Milford.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors followed in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
