SEABROOK, NH: Harry J. LeVie, 88, formerly of Whittemore Street, Gloucester, passed on Thursday, January 8, 2009, in the Exeter Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Generosa (Criscuolo) LeVie.
Born in Gloucester on April 11, 1920 he was the son of the late Forrest and Annie E. (Cominelli) LeVie. He had been a resident of Gloucester for 85 years until moving to Seabrook to be near his daughter and her family in 2005. He was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1937, where he was a member of the R.O.T.C. He was also a proud recipient of the Sawyer Medal Award.
He was employed for over forty years at the former Mighty Mac, having retired as supervisor of the pressers in 1982.
He and Generosa could often be found walking the Boulevard and were known affectionately by many as “The Walkers.” Although he moved away, his heart was always in Gloucester.
In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his daughter and her companion, Ann Small and Francis Beaulieu of Seabrook, a granddaughter, Lorrie Ann, wife of Danny O’Brien, a grandson, Thomas, husband of Jeanette Small, three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kyle O’Brien and Kennett Colby and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brothers Forrest and John LeVie.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the N.H. Services for Blind & Visually Impaired, 21 South Fruit St., Suite #23, Concord, NH 03301. Interment will be held in the Beechbrook Cemetery.
