LOWELL—Robert W. Smith, Sr., 53 years old died unexpectedly, early Monday morning, May 12th, at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Susan (Conlon) Smith, who survives him.
He was born in Lowell, on January 1, 1950, a son of the late Robert W. and Virginia (Bonan) Smith, and was a graduate of Tewksbury High School and the New Hampshire Vocational Technical School, in Amherst, NH.
Mr. Smith had been employed as a Hydroelectric Operator by the Lawrence Hydroelectric Associates, in Lawrence, and previously by the Boott Mills, in Lowell.
Surviving him besides his wife are his four children: Melanie Smith and her fiancé Gregory Moran, of Lowell; Robert W. Smith, Jr., of Westford; David R. Smith and Patrick R. Smith, both of Lowell; one granddaughter: Rebecca A. Smith, of Lowell; a brother: Michael D. Smith; of Lowell; a sister: Kathleen M. Nicholas, of Tewksbury; a sister-in-law: Lucy J. Conlon, of Lowell; also several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial calling hours will be held Saturday, May 17th, from 2 to 5 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Private committal to take place at the convenience of the family.
