Jacquelyn Joan Delaporta, 71, beloved wife of Maurice Delaporta passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 31, 2008, surrounded by her family.
Born in New London she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Evelyn Balestracci. Jackie was a graduate of Fitch High School class of 1955.
She was employed by the A & P Tea Co. in Mystic for 20 years. Until two years ago, she was a resident of Lady Lake, Fla., where she worked in the hospitality industry. While living in Florida, with her husband of 53 years, she traveled coast to coast to all of Florida's beaches.
Jackie loved the beach, music, dancing, gardening with the wild birds that she fed and being surrounded by her family. She also loved her Saturday Christmas Tree Shop outings with her daughter.
She is survived by her husband, Maurice Delaporta as well as well a brother, Alfred Balestracci and wife, Margie of Redding, Mass. Also surving her are son, Steven and wife, Karen of Gales Ferry, daughter, Bonnie and husband, Joe Nixie of Norwich and son, Scott and wife, Heather of Mystic. She also leaves behind eight beautiful grandchildren, "Dr." Sara, Katie, Josh, Matt, Cassie, Tyler, Alyssa and Jayden, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am. on Wednesday, Jan. 7th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Gales Ferry. Burial will be private.
