Obituary


ALAN C. HOLLIDAY, a Hingham resident since 1966, died on Monday, Jan. 5th, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 72. Mr. Holliday was born in Cleveland, Ohio and spent his early life in Bay Village, Ohio. He graduated from Kenyon College in Bambier, Ohio and was a founder and Creative Director of the advertising firm of Hill Holliday Connors Cosmopolis in Boston. In later years, he achieved his Master's Degree in Divinity at Harvard Divinity School. More recently, Mr. Holliday taught advertising at Boston University, retiring several years ago.

He leaves his wife, Lucile J. "Lucy" (Johnson) Holliday of Hingham; and was the father of Daniel A. Holliday and his wife Clara Porter of Portland, ME, Sarah (Holliday) Weiss and her husband John of Ypsilanti, MI and Thompson C. Holliday of Hingham. Grandfather of Maeve, Celia, Myles, Nya and Jerzy.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 10th at 2:30 PM at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 172 Main St., Hingham.

Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hingham Public Library, 66 Leavitt St., Hingham, MA 02043 or to National Public Radio, 890 Commonwealth Ave., 3rd Floor, Boston, MA 02115.
