Gilford-Thomas Edward Lennon, 77, died Sunday morning, January 4, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family.
Tom was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 4, 1931, the son of the late John J. and Mary (Stewart) Lennon. He had been a resident of the Lakes Region for over 27 years coming from Stoughton, Massachusetts.
Tom was a Boston Police Officer from 1955-1972 transferring to the Metro Police (M.D.C.) retiring as a Sergeant in 1975. He was a veteran U.S. Army.
Tom was a member of the K of C, Council 10943 in Belmont and Council 129 in Randolph, Massachusetts, the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post 1 in Laconia, the DAV, and a member of R.A.M.P. in Massachusetts.
Tom is predeceased by one son, Richard “Ricky” Lennon in 1986; two brothers, Jack Lennon, and Edward Lennon; one sister, Mary Sullivan.
Tom is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cynthia T. (Black) Lennon of Gilford; four sons, Thomas Lennon and his wife Arminé of Boston, Massachusetts, James Lennon and his wife Mary Kay of Wood River Junction, Rhode Island, Michael Lennon of Boston, Massachusetts, and Brian Lennon and his fiancé Jamie of Gilford; two step-sons, Kevin Lyons and his wife Deirdre of Hingham, Massachusetts, and James Lyons and his wife Karin of Kingston, Massachusetts; three brothers, Robert Lennon and his wife Ellen of Hollywood, Florida, William Lennon of Taunton, Massachusetts, and Richard Lennon of Franklin, Massachusetts. Twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, January 10, 2009 at St. James Parish, 560 Page Street, Stoughton, Massachusetts at 10:00 a.m. Burial followed in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, 1100 Washington Street, Stoughton, Massachusetts. There were no visiting hours.
A Memorial Mass was held on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main Street, Belmont. A reception followed at the Brick Front Restaurant, 134 Church Street, Laconia.
