Laconia-Beatrice Hope Charnley, 56, of 161 Valley Street died Saturday afternoon, January 3, 2009 at Lakes Region General Hospital.
Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on June 7, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Rolanda (Parenteau) Gates. She had been a resident of the Lakes Region since 1973.
Beatrice was employed by St. Francis Healthcare Center in Environmental Services. She has also worked at the former Best Western and The Summit Resort. With her love for children she also provided childcare at her home known as “Nana’s Day Care”.
Besides her parents, Beatrice is predeceased by her husband, Paul A. Charnely, Sr. in 2002, and infant daughter, Hope Elisabeth Charnley, a brother John Gates, and a sister Nancy Sanborn.
Beatrice is survived by two sons, Paul A. Charnley, Jr. and his wife Mary of Belmont, and Randy Charnley of Laconia; two daughters, Penny Lowe and her husband William of Laconia, and Paula Freeman and her fiancé Mark of New Hampton; three brothers, Ralph Gates, Jr., and Charles Gates both of Florida, and Paul Gates of Dover; four sisters, Pearl Moghab of South Carolina, Marion Francis, Yolanda Sanborn and Alice “Tootsie” Charoux all of Haverhill, Massachusetts; her mother-in-law, Marjorie Charnley also of Haverhill, Massachusetts. Eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive Beatrice.
Visiting hours were on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
