TAUNTON – Charles J. Geer, the husband of Viola M. (Willette) Geer, died at Morton Hospital on Jan. 2, 2009, following a long illness.
He was 84.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Letalien) Geer.
A graduate of Taunton High School, and Bristol County Business College, he worked as an accountant for Modern Plastics for many years, before retiring many years ago.
An organist, he played at Holy Family Church, the former Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and Marian Manor.
For over 35 years, he was the Scout Master of Troop 22 in East Taunton.
He also served as Airport Commissioner under Mayor Bernard Cleary, as well as serving in the National Guard.
He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church.
Besides his wife of Taunton, he leaves a son, Edward J. Geer and Cheryl of E. Taunton; a daughter, Cheryl A. Bean and Douglas Cote of Taunton; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Joseph Geer, Jr., Rose A. Rose, Delia Wise, and Madeline Casey.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, on Wednesday, Jan. 7th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church (Formerly St. Jacques Church) at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. James Cemetery, E. Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
