Obituary

Simeon “Simmie” Clement, 105, formerly of 35 Messer St. died May 9, 2003 in the St. Francis Home. He was born in Newmarket NH on January 23, 1898, the fifth of eleven children of Felix and Lea (Doucette) Clement and moved to Laconia at the age of seven.

Simmie began working for William Bisson, Contractor at the age of 14. He moved to Florida for a time and eventually returned to Laconia in 1929. The W. M. Bisson Construction Company for the next 32 years employed him. He was a carpenter and later a superintendent for the company during construction of many projects in Laconia, including Avery Dam, Our Lady of the Lakes Church, the Laconia Clinic, the Sacred Heart Parish Hall and the St.. Francis Home and many others.

He retired at the age of 74 and began traveling extensively by car throughout the United States. He has resided in the St. Francis Home since 1987.

He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Annedia (Bechard) Clement in 1970 after 50 years of marriage and by his second wife, Merilda (Cameron) Clement in 1972.

Family members include a sister, Stella McGrath of Laconia and numerous nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service was held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Claremont NH on Friday, May 16 at 11 AM. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber of the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. were the funeral directors.
