Walter E. Mazur, 60, of Smithfield Road, a machinist at Browne & Sharpe for eight years, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at VA Medical Center in Providence. He was the husband of Suzanne M.(Canu) Mazur.
Born in Providence, he was a son of Walter J. Mazur and the late Gabrielle (Michaud) Mazur, he lived in North Providence for 15 years, previously living in Maine.
Mr Mazur was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, an avid fisherman and a member of Trout Unlimited.
He is also survived by a daughter, Jennifer A. Roach of North Providence, a sister Diane Paliotta of Providence and two brothers, Joseph Mazur of Mapleville and Steven Mazur of Barrington.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 3-6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DAV, 1 Capitol Hill, Providence, RI 02908.
