Harlem, GA---Mr. Doyle E. Cruce, 82, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at University Hospital.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 am, at Westview Cemetery, with Reverend Philip Vestal officiating.
Mr. Cruce was a veteran, of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 63, a member of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course, a former member of Augusta Elks Lodge 205 and was a member of the Harlem Baptist Church. Mr. Cruce, at the time of his retirement, was the Superintendent at the City of Augusta Sanitation Department.
Mr. Cruce was preceded in death by his wife, Bowdre Cruce, in June of 2008, his parents, William and Emma Calvert Cruce, sisters, Clara Hardy and Lilly Cook and a brother, Luther Cruce.
He is survived by a son, Chuck Cruce and wife Cece, of Charlotte, NC, a daughter, Lynn Maxwell and husband, Wade, of Harlem, GA, grandchild, Hank Vaughn, great grandchild, Tyler Vaughn and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 2, 2009, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
Pallbearers will be John Black, Chris Black, Truckie Black and William Reed.
