WORCESTER__Douglas Bernardos, 57, of Worcester, died Monday, December 29, 2008 in Rose Monahan Hospice, 10 Judith Road.
He leaves his wife of thirty-five years, Maria (Witek) Bernardos, two daughters, Christina Bernardos of Worcester and Malissa Brule and her husband, Mark of Putnam, CT; three grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob and Lauren Brule, all of Putnam, CT; two brothers, Robert Bernardos of Ware and Ronald Bernardos of Chicopee; four sisters, Patricia Chester of Ware; Judith Ratkiewicz of South Hadley; Melanie LaPlante of Ludlow and Kathy Murphy of Chicopee; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was born in Chicopee, a son of Joseph and Julia (Krycowski) Bernardos.
Mr. Bernardos was a service man for NSTAR for many years before retiring. He graduated from Chicopee High School. Douglas enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and caring for the local birds. He also had a great interest in aircraft and flying. Doug was a handyman and was relied on by many to fix what was ailing.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 in HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice, c/o VNA Care Network & Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608-1280.
