Worcester—Ellen M. (Betteridge) Rainsford Little, 99, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008, in Autumn Village. She was the widow of Albert Rainsford, who died in 1975 and Norman Little, who died in 1989. Ellen leaves her daughter, Elizabeth A. (Rainsford) Swenson of Holden; two step-daughters, Sandra Johnson of Oxford and Carol Wiggin of Worcester; nephew, Russell Betteridge of Barre; nieces, Norma LaMarche of S. Grafton and Janice Zecco of Northborough; as well as several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Russell Betteridge, and a sister, Phyllis Miller.
Ellen was born in New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of Jennie (Keith) and Norman Betteridge. She worked in the purchasing department of US Envelope for 43 years, retiring in 1968. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Utopia #107 Rebekah Lodge Past Noble Grand, and Stella Chapter Eastern Star.
Funeral Services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Monday, January 5, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Patient’s Activity Fund, Autumn Village, 25 Oriol Drive, Worcester MA 01605.
