Leon E. Gariepy, 59, of Noonan Dr., Londonderry, NH died Friday May 9, 2003 in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH following a brief illness. Leon was born in Haverhill, MA, on May 6, 1944 the son of the late Leonard and Marie (Bruneau) Gariepy. He had resided in Londonderry for more than 20 years, formerly living in Haverhill, MA. Leon graduated from Haverhill High School Class of 1962 and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Lowell Technological Institute, Lowell, MA in 1968. He had been employed in quality control for Sanders Associates at the Manchester Airport, Digital Corp., Salem, NH and most recently had been working for Microwave Radio Corp. in North Billerica, MA. Leon was an avid water-skier, especially as a young man where he entered water-skiing shows on Lake Winnepesaukee and even entered a two-day 100-mile water-skiing race in the 1960’s. Leon enjoyed many things including, his cocker spaniel “Penny”, his fresh and saltwater aquariums, country western music and family genealogy. He also had a special love for his children and grandchildren and enjoyed traveling, cooking and entertaining his family and friends around his swimming pool.
He is survived by his son, David L. Gariepy and his wife Jennifer of Hudson, NH, his daughter, Karen L. Gallagher and her husband Sean of Nashua, NH, his three grandchildren, Jared, Justin and Gillian, his brother, Raymond Gariepy and his wife Sherrill of Groveland, MA, his sister-in-law, Joan Gariepy of Manchester, also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, John Gariepy.
Calling hours will be on Monday May 12th from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry with a memorial service beginning at 7:00pm in the funeral home.
