Catherine E. (White) Hackett, 99, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Sunday afternoon at Saints Medical Center. She was the widow of the late George H. Hackett who died in 2000.
Born in Dover, New Hampshire on July 29, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Scanlon) White and received her education at the Immaculate Conception Grammar and High School. For many years, Mrs. Hackett worked as an electronics worker at both Heinze Electric Company and Wang Laboratories in Lowell. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell and a former member of the Woman’s Guild of the Church. She loved to read and play cards and was a supporter of World Missions.
Mrs. Hackett is survived by a son and daughter in law, George H. Hackett Jr. and his wife Carol of Pelham, N.H.; a daughter and son in law, Catherine and Robert Cutter of Hollis, N.H.; seven grandchildren, John, Warren and Michael Hackett, Maureen Gerry, Kimberly Carroll, Ryan and Andrew Cutter; 9 great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madeline, Jack and Adam Carroll, Maiya, Ethan and Cole Gerry, Bethany and Courtney Cutter; and a close friend Brother James Lucas O.M.I. of Tewksbury.
Mrs. Hackett was the sister of the late Helen Soucy and sister in law of the late Roland Soucy.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, Jan.1st from 5 until 7 pm at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH ST.(Rte.38). Her Funeral Mass will be held Friday Jan. 2nd at 11 am at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Oblate Infirmary Fund, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA. 01876-2849.
