TEWKSBURY - Martin J. Damian, age 61,loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully at his Tewksbury home, Monday morning, December 29, following a courageous thirty month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Dale C. (Wright) Damian, with whom he had celebrated a 38th wedding anniversary this past March 21st.
He was born in Boston, July 20, 1947, a son of the late Joseph and Vincenza (Carcia) Damian. He was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School. He went on to graduate from the former Lowell Technical Institute, now University of Mass, Lowell. He had lived in Tewksbury for the past 38 years, where he was a communicant of St. William's Church.
He was currently working as the Vice President of Guarantor Relations for Windham Professionals and worked at Northeastern University for over 30 years providing service to students. He was a former member of the Burlington Knights of Columbus, and a member of the National Bursars Association. He recently received the honor of being selected to serve the US Department of Education on a special committee to review the student loan process.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Maryann and Ronald Vigliotta of Burlington; a son, Martin J. Damian Jr. of Tewksbury; two grandchildren, Joseph and Isabella Vigliotta; a brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Kathleen Damian of Lynn; a sister, Maria Damian Fishlin and her husband Alan of Tewksbury, a brother-in-law Jack Wright and his wife Donna Wright of Tewksbury, a sister-in-law the late Marlene Brown and her husband George of Lowell and several nieces and nephews.
He will also be remembered by hundreds of people he worked with at Northeastern University and Windham Professionals.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, Jan. 3, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, No. Tewksbury. Memorial contributions to Northeastern University care of George Makris, 111 Matthews Arena, Boston, MA 02115 will be appreciated.
