Walter, “Wally” Skomin,87, died peacefully, December 26, 2008, at his home in Harmony one day before his 88th birthday. Wally had been a machinist for Parkinson Manufacturing in Smithfield before retiring.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Daniel and Alexsandria (Abramowitz) Skomin. He had been a resident of Harmony since 1990 and had previously lived in Providence and Smithfield.
He is survived by his sister Isabelle Plante of Smithfield, his nieces and nephews; Benny Abbatematteo, Sandra and Linda Skomin, Danny, Dennis and Richard Plante and Doreen Peters. He was the brother of the late Bertha Abbatematteo and John Skomin and uncle of the late Marie Moresch, Bobby and David Plante. He was the “great” uncle and friend to Tony Abbatematteo, Danise Davis, Kathe Plante, Cindy Gould, Tanny Nadeau, Mike Abbatematteo, Ellie Buxton, Lynne Farrar, Deb Grande, Kelly Wolinski, Jean Abbatematteo, Jennifer Gervasio, Connie Reynolds and their families.
His funeral service will be held on Monday at Noontime in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation Monday 10 -12 noon. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
