OBITUARY
Fitchburg
Albert Joseph Gallien, 92, of Fitchburg, died Tuesday December 23, at
Sterling Health Care in Sterling.
Albert was born in Caraquet, New Bruswick, April 27, 1916, the son of
Joseph L. and Genevieve (Boucher) Gallien. He formerly lived in Lynn and
Shirley before moving to Fitchburg where he built his own house.
Albert was employed for many years for the city of Fitchburg water
department. He was a member and past president of the Municipal
Employees Association and a former president of the Fitchburg
Retirement System. After retirement, Albert worked for several years as a
security guard for the former Rich's Department store where he enjoyed
meeting old friends and making new friends.
Albert was a U.S.Navy veteran of World War ll and served in the seabees in
the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and was involved in the construction of the air
field on Tinian Island in the South Pacific.
Albert was a tinkerer and loved to repair things. He loved to travel and
visited Peru, England and several trips to New Brunswick. He enjoyed the
sea and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Albert leaves his daughter Barbara J. Lindamood with whom he lived, his
grandchildren, Debra DeSando of Leominster, Wendy Deyo of Minnesota,
Laura Roach of Virginia, David Egge of Minnesota, Karri Lindamood of
Minnesota and Steven Gallien of Westminster. Eight great grandchildren.
His daughters, Jean Brown, Norma Egge, Alberta Seney; his brothers Louis
and Romeo and his sisters Emily Amirault and Rose Favreau all
predeceased him.
A mass of Ressurection will be held on Monday December 29, at 11:00 A.M.
in Our Lady of the Lake Church 1400 Main St. Leominster. Burial with
military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling
hours. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the local chapter of
the D.A.V. or to the American Diabetes Association 330 Congress St. 5th
floor Boston, Ma.02210. Bosk Funeral Home 85 Blossom St. is assisting the
family.
