Aram Poisson, 89, of Sayles Hill Rd., Manville, died Tuesday evening at The Holiday surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Jeannette (Godin) Poisson to whom he was married on Nov. 26th, 1942.
Born in Manville, he was a son of the late Archille and Anna (Beaudoin) Poisson. He resided in Manville for most of his life.
Mr. Poisson was the proprietor of the former Poisson’s Meat Market on Railroad St. in Manville. He also worked for Bonellos Packing House and the Lil’ General Stores before retiring
Aram was a longtime communicant of St. James Church and served as a trustee of the parish. He was a member of the Montcalm Club and enjoyed coin collecting. He cherished his role as a grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by a daughter-in-law, Susan M. Poisson of Harrisville, two grandchildren, Michael Poisson of CA. and Leanne Poisson of Harrisville, and a sister, Dorothy Poisson of Manville. He was the father of the late Dennis Poisson, and brother of the late Camille, Normand, Roland, Marcel, Ralph, and Jeanne D’Arc Poisson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Monday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St., Manville. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7 pm. Memorial donations may be made to St. James Parish Endowment Fund, 33 Division St., Manville, RI. 02838.
