Obituary

Santina M. (Riley) Curran, 90 of Franklin died December 25 in the Medway Country Manor. She was the wife of the late William Curran.
Born in Franklin, February 5, 1918, the daughter of the late John and Marie (Fiorani) Riley, Mrs. Curran was a lifelong Franklin resident.
Mrs. Curran graduated from Framingham State College with a BS in Education and she received a Master in Education from Boston University.
Mrs. Curran had been the Home Economist with the Philadelphia Electric Company, a teacher at Franklin High School and a dietician at the Pratt Diagnostic Hospital in Boston.
She also served as the Head Economist for the Norfolk County Extension Service.
Mrs. Curran worked for Boston Television Station WCVB for many years. She had a regular segment on the Good Day Show for 8 years.
For her outstanding work in the extension program, she received the Distinguished Service Award in 1956.
She was affiliated with many professional and civic orginizations.
She was an original member of the Orchard Park Development Committee in Roxbury.
She was the past President of the Massachusetts Federation of Extension Workers, former member of the Norfolk County Lung Association and had been an advisor for the Franklin Board of Health.
Mrs. Curran co-authored the book, The Future Role of Extension Home Economics in 1963.
Mrs. Curran was the brother of the late John M. Riley Jr.
She is survived by her nephews, John M. Riley, Thomas C. Riley and Santina M. Riley and many other nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30 in St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
