John J. "Jack" Higham, 83, of New Bedford died Friday December 26, 2008 at Sippican Healthcare Center. He was the husband of the late Helen A. (Koniczenski) Higham.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Emily (O'Hare) Higham, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Mr. Higham was a real estate broker who had been the proprietor of Jack Higham Real Estate for many years. He had also served as an administrative assistant to Mayor Edward F. Harrington.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Wamsutta Club, the Country Club of New Bedford, the 13 Striper Club, the Knights of Columbus, and the New Bedford Board of Realtors.
Survivors include a son, Barry E. Higham and his wife Tricia of Dartmouth; a grandson, Owen Cleary Higham; and a niece and a nephew.
He was the brother of the late Emily Coffey, Mary Hernon, Margaret, George, and William Higham.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 AM at St. Mary's Church, Tarkiln Hill Rd. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
