New Bedford-Naria (Furtado) Sousa age 82 years passed away December 24th, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Manuel F. Sousa. She was the loved mother of Antonio, John, and Jamie Sousa all of New Bedford, Agnes Tetreault of Marion and Maria Sylvia of New Bedford. Naria was the sister of John and Jamie Furtado both of New Bedford, Louie Furtado of Dartmouth, Gloria Borges and Hilda Rapoza both of New Bedford, Lidia Deus of Dartmouth and Jorgelina Pacheco of Canada and the late Manuel Furtado and Guilhermena Raposo. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sousa was the daughter of the late Manuel and Beatrice (Ferreira) Furtado. She was born St. Michael, Azores, Portugal. She lived in this area since 1967.
Mrs. Sousa’s Funeral will be Saturday at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery New Bedford MA. Visiting hours are Friday from 5-8 P.M.
